Roy is a 5th generation Vermonter living in California and working as an entrepreneur in the non-profit field. He is also the ex-world record holder for the most high fives in a 24 hour period. In 2006, as an aspiring pro skier, a training jump changed Roy’s life forever when he overshot a jump, fracturing the T-12 vertebrae of his spine. The accident was a life-changing event as Roy had to rely on adaptive equipment to relearn to walk and eventually to ski. However, the day of the crash was ultimately not a negative experience for Roy as it spawned the creation of the High Fives Foundation — a life reaffirming achievement and experience of positive chaos in his life. In his talk, Roy speaks to the power of positive chaos in transforming memories.
