CR Johnson Healing Center Offers Additional Services in 2013

Expanded services include group and private Pilates classes, Bar Effect classes and the launch of the PT Gym

(Truckee, Calif.) The CR Johnson Healing Center opened in June 2011 to provide a training facility for High Fives Foundation Winter-Empowerment Fund athletes to work on their respective recoveries. Since that time, the Healing Center has expanded into a fully functional wellness facility in a little more than one years time. The Healing Center offers full-time massage, acupuncture, chiropractic care, physical therapy and Pilates to both High Fives Athletes and the general public. Services offered and class schedules can be found by visiting www.crjohnson.org.

Beginning this month the Healing Center will start functioning as a PT Gym. The Gym is a place where injured individuals can work on their physical therapist prescribed exercise routines.

Most people dont have the space and equipment to perform the most effective therapy routines at home, Steve Wallace, CR Johnson Healing Center coordinator, said. The PT Gym concept was CRs personal vision. I know hed be really excited to know that we are able to offer this service to injured athletes.

The PT Gym will be open to local therapists and their patients. Access to the gym and its equipment will be available through the High Fives Foundation for a donation. PT Gym donation tiers are $50 for one month, $125 for three months, $300 for six months and $500 for 12 months.

Additionally, for the month of January, physical therapist Greg Booth will work with patients at the Healing Center. Booth will donate a portion of the proceeds from each client to the Foundation. Each new client training at the Healing Center will receive a High Fives branded big truck hat.

New in 2013, Pilates instructor Tina Cook has join the Healing Center full-time. Cook will lead classes on the Healing Centers three Balanced Bodies Pilates Reformers. Class times are 9:30 a.m., 12:10 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Private lessons will also be available. Twenty percent of Cooks rate will be donated to the High Fives Foundation.

Finally, Bar Effect, Truckee, instructor Michelle Rahlves will offer a class at the Healing Center on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 p.m. Rahlves is an integral member of the CR Johnson Healing Center Wellness Team.
The CR Johnson Healing Center is named in honor of beloved Truckee, Calif. native and professional freeskier, CR Johnson. CR Johnsons incredible energy created a legacy of positivity and a sense of community that is now forever embodied in the CR Johnson Healing Center in Truckee. Johnson would have celebrated his 30th birthday this year. He enjoyed an amazing career in the freeskiing community until his passing on Feb. 24, 2010.

2012 was an amazing year for the High Fives Foundation and the CR Johnson Healing Center, said Roy Tuscany Executive Director of the High Fives Foundation. We are continuing to evolve and grow. It is a real mind trip to think back to the conversations CR and I had in 2006 at our physical therapy sessions. Those conversations have led to the creation of the CR Johnson Healing Center and what it has become. It truly is the dream space we both imagined.”

As a result of seeing CRs vision come to life, and how the Healing Center has positively impacted peoples lives, the Johnson Family has offered to match the first $20,000 in donations made to the facility in memory of their fallen son.

The Johnson Family understands the vision of the High Fives Foundation and CR Johnson Healing Center, said Tuscany. Neither entity would be where it is today without the Johnsons generous support.

From day one I have understood the vision of the facility, said CR Johnsons sister, Kahlil Johnson. What Roy, Adam and Steve have created for their athletes is remarkable. To see the CR Johnson Healing Center operating the way it is today is surreal, and truly what my brother wouldve wanted.
