The fifth season of The Unexpected Journey, a podcast dedicated to telling powerful stories from the adaptive and disabled communities, premieres Thursday, July 10. The season opens with an interview featuring Roy Tuscany, founder and CEO of High Fives Foundation, a national nonprofit that has supported nearly 1,000 adaptive athletes and veterans.
Hosted by adaptive athlete and quadriplegic Tim Brown, The Unexpected Journey is an acclaimed podcast that explores the lived experiences of individuals with disabilities through raw, intimate, and empowering storytelling. The show features immersive sound design, original music, and campfire-style conversations that elevate voices often left out of mainstream media.
Season 5 will include 12 biweekly episodes and focus on three central themes:
- Relationships
- Art and Creativity
- Adaptive Ski Racing
Tim Brown became quadriplegic after a ski accident that resulted in a spinal cord injury 12 years ago. He prefers to listen before speaking and shares his own experiences alongside each guest. The podcast’s mission is to elevate, educate, and empower both disabled and able-bodied listeners through creative and powerful storytelling. Its vision is to be a leader in the creation and distribution of disability-centric stories and to provide an accessible platform for participants in the disabled experience to share their perspectives with the world.
The Unexpected Journey is a podcast about adaptive athletes, adventurers, creators, and other members of the disability community. Each episode features an individual with a disability sharing their story of challenging preconceived beliefs, pushing boundaries, and getting after it—ultimately leading to a life fulfilled.

New episodes of The Unexpected Journey will be available every other Thursday on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and all major podcast platforms.
