Access Unlimited Hosts First Reno Fish Day Camp

The High Fives Foundation’s Access Unlimited program recently hosted its first Reno Fly Fishing Day Camp in partnership with Reno Fly Shop, bringing athletes together for a day on the iconic Truckee River.

Led by Jesse Alberi, the day was about more than catching fish, it was about connection, community, and spending time outdoors alongside people who understand the adaptive journey. Athletes and volunteers spent the day learning, laughing, and enjoying everything the river had to offer.

“I think what I love most about fishing is just being on the water,” Jesse shared. “It doesn’t matter if you catch a fish or not. It’s being on the water with the people around you and getting to forget about your disability for a little bit and just laugh.”

From healthy fish releases to unforgettable moments on the riverbank, the camp highlighted the power of adaptive recreation and the importance of creating accessible outdoor experiences for all. The High Fives Foundation is grateful to Reno Fly Shop and everyone who helped make the first Reno Fish Day Camp a success.
