April Grant Awarded: $5,700 Awarded to an Injured Athletethrough the Winter Empowerment Fund
Athlete Awarded Disbursements for Recovery from Life Altering Injury
The High Fives Foundation – Winter Empowerment Program Service disburses board approved grants to disabled winter action sports athletes participating in winter adaptive sports or recovering from a life altering injury. In April 2013 the Board of Directors approved the following grant for one athlete totaling $5,700.
To date, the Winter Empowerment Fund has assisted 43 athletes in eight respective funding categories which include: living expenses, insurance, travel, health, healing network, adaptive equipment, winter equipment, programs and stoke (positive energy, outlook and attitude).

GIRAY DADALI | SALT LAKE CITY UTAH
A 22 year old freeskier, Giray was at a competition in March 2013 when he overshot a landing on a jump and broke his sacrum and pelvis. He is now trying to get back to his life as a skier and return to the slopes as soon as physically possible. He looks forward to continuing to pursue his dreams of skiing deep snow and fun terrain park features every day.
