HIGH FIVE #HIGHFIVESATHLETE George Gonzalez FOR ACHIEVING his first of FIVE ARCADE BELT GOALS!
On August 31st, 2017, #HighFivesAthlete George Gonzalez accomplished his Arcade X High Fives belt goal of navigating rough ocean water.
George grew up in Florida and spent a lot of his time with family in the Atlantic Ocean, so following his 2017 spinal cord injury, it was very important to him to get back to feeling comfortable in the water. Now that he’s gotten his feet wet again, George has plans to spend time with friends and family on the beautiful beaches of Florida this summer.
BONUS – George is back to school full time and has made the honor roll!
George was snowboarding with his step-father in Colorado when he suffered his accident. While heading down a blue run he came to a section were a bunch of small kids came out of the trees and surprised him. Not wanting to run into them, George tried to check up using my heel edge, but when he did, he caught his toe edge and flipped over landing on his head. The impact led to a C6/7 burst fracture, causing paralysis from the neck down.
