Grayson was inured in July during a Speedflying accident. He landed on his back going 40-60 miles per hour, shattering his L4 and L5. It was the 2nd or 3rd shuttle lap of the morning and he misjudged his altitude when coming in for landing. Landed on his butt/back really hard. He leaned up after the crash but was unable to feel or move anything below his waist, and unable to get up.

Grayson describes outdoor sports as “an integral piece of [his] day to day life”. He wants nothing more to return to this active lifestyle, just in an adaptive form.

“Spend a little more time trying to make something of yourself and a little less time trying to impress people.”

“Receiving this grant from High Fives enables me to get back to my active lifestyle pre-injury. I am super motivated to get back doing what I love at 100%. Ever since I was injured I said I just want to run until I can’t run anymore. Fortunately, I got super lucky and after much rehab/pt, I can see this goal soon becoming reality. This grant will help me get back to doing what I love and reaching my goals I had set pre and post injury.“
