These goals are achieved as a part of the Arcade Goal Belt Program which was established as an initiative that guides athletes through the complex recovery process after a life-altering injury.
The belt program, which is similar to a karate belt system, rewards High Fives athletes with an Arcade belt containing a new gold star for each milestone achieved. This framework is designed to provide clarity, support, competition and inspiration for others as these athletes work to rebuild their lives.
Landon broke his back July of 2010 while competing on his mountain bike. In the summer Landon’s passion is mountain biking and in the winter, skiing filled that same passion. The Winter Empowerment Fund enabled Landon to return to the mountain and be with his friends & family.
His goal of making the Canadian Paralympic Ski Team was accelerated by the High Fives Foundation, but now, his hard-working, never give-up attitude is going to get him there. “In 2010 I had a life-altering accident. Thanks to the High Fives Foundation, it’s been a positive one.” -Landon
