Tim sustained a spinal cord injury at the C5 level while skiing the crested butte backcountry with a friend. There was a small drop that Tim scouted and hit, causing him to land a little bit forward and crash. Tim’s friend acted quickly to get his face out of the snow so he didn’t suffocate, and then called rescue. Once he arrived at the hospital, Tim received the news that he was paralyzed from the shoulders down.

Tim’s ultimate goal, no matter the time and effort that it takes, is to get back to the sports that he loves.

These goals are achieved as a part of the Arcade Goal Belt Program which was established as an initiative that guides athletes through the complex recovery process after a life-altering injury.

The belt program, which is similar to a karate belt system, rewards High Fives athletes with an Arcade belt containing a new gold star for each milestone achieved. This framework is designed to provide clarity, support, competition and inspiration for others as these athletes work to rebuild their lives.
