This October, the Tahoe Waterman Foundation proudly wrapped up the inaugural season of our Adaptive Paddling Program, partnering with an incredible group of athletes from the High Fives Foundation. Together, we celebrated the healing power of water through paddle sports, creating unforgettable experiences on the beautiful waters of North Lake Tahoe.
Based at Waterman’s Landing Café and Patton Beach in Carnelian Bay, they utilized traditional and adaptive paddle sports equipment, including the innovative Double-ama Draco outrigger canoe designed by Kai Wa’a. Our High Fives Athlete paddlers enjoyed world-class equipment provided by Kai Wa’a Canoes, Puakea Designs, QBC Paddles, Florence Marine X, and Vaikobi.
The Adaptive Paddling Program is designed to offer professional coaching and specialized paddle sports equipment for individuals facing life-changing mental or physical health challenges. They are thrilled to also provide paddling experiences for underserved and underprivileged youth in our community.
Special thanks to Matt Bansak Photography for capturing our incredible moments on the water. Thank you to the funders – Adaptive Paddle Equipment – Mobi Mats and the Draco specialized canoe provided by a grant from the Tahoe Fund.
