In pure collaborative fashion, all ticket sales will benefit Tahoe-based High Fives Foundation and their mission — to support the dreams of mountain action sports athletes by raising injury prevention awareness while providing support and inspiration to those who suffer life-altering injuries.

“This is a ‘fun first’ way to give back to our favorite community non-profit and community,” said Galen Gifford, owner of bigtruck. Gifford also sits as the chairman of the Board of Directors of the High Fives Foundation.

Vokab Kompany is the high energy linguistic duo of Rob Hurt and Burke Baby. The two MC’s are accompanied by a four-piece band to bring sounds of funk and rap layered with creative elctro-beats to the Crown Room at the Crystal Bay Club.

The group is fresh off of a four-month tour fronting the Run DMC Remixed tribute for Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, with appearances everywhere from Brooklyn to New Orleans for a nod at Jazzfest. Earlier this year they played Snowglobe Music Festival in South Lake Tahoe, and have had lively showings at other national festivals including Electric Forrest, Coachella, and GoPro Mountain Games in Vail, Colo.

“Vokab’s journey has a heartbeat that is Lake Tahoe!” said Vokab Kompany’s Matt Burke, known as Burke Baby. “We are beyond stoked to work with bigtruck and High Fives in the spirit of giving back to a place and community that has given so much to each of us. This party is a shout out to the entire family of Lake dwellers North Lake, South Lake and beyond.”

“Our office is known to bump Vokab tracks while we work, so it’s extremely exciting to have them coming to play this show,” said Roy Tuscany, Executive Director of the High Fives Foundation. “They’re such cool guys too; Equally as cool on stage and off.”

bigtruck brand athlete ambassador and Tahoe-born Olympic gold medalist skier Julia Mancuso weighed in saying,  “I’m all about working hard, having fun and giving back! My favorite hats in the world are bigtruck, the leaders in FUN FIRST! Add the High Fives Foundation, and you have a Fun First party that you won’t want to miss!”

The after the Vokab Kompany show, the Crystal Bay Club Red Room will feature beats from High Fives Athlete David Hewel known on stage as DJ David Aaron. 33-year-old Hewel was speed flying from the top of Heavenly Resort when a gust of wind sent him and his parachute off course and smashed him onto his back, burst-fracturing his T-12 Vertabra. With the help of High Fives, Hewel is undergoing a focused recovery and continuing to DJ at Montebleu Resort in South Lake.
