Event Spotlight: The SKINNY Ski-A-Thon Raises Over $30,000!

On Monday, April 1, 2013 Squaw Valley (Olympic Valley, CA) hosted the SKINNY Ski-A-Thon from 9:00a.m. – 4:00p.m. There were 76 High Fives Foundation supporters present whom had collected donations on a per-lap and flat-rate basis to raise over $30,000 for the Tahoe based non-profit.

One avenue in which theHigh Fives Foundation procures funding for its three program services is through laid back and entertaining events such as theSKINNY Ski-A-Thon. High Fives takes pride in putting the word FUN in fundraising and the ultimate goal of these events is to continue the positive direction of healing, health and happiness inherent in the Foundations mission.

The event has morphed into a friendly competition between all that participate to raise money and set the bar higher each year in the name of philanthropy. Jordan Basile replaced last years SKINNY Ski-A-Thon champion, Greg Lindsey, for most runs with an astounding 51 (barely edging out Mattias Sullivan – 50 runs and Aaron Bushey – 49 runs). Team Survivor (consisting of Michelle Tuscany, Nicole Fisher, Amie Quirarte and Jessica Gates) took the crown as the top fundraiser team (bringing in over $3,500). Rounding out the awards, the top male fundraiser was Shawn Berger (gathering over $2,400 in donations) and the top female fundraiser was Kahlil Johnson (gathering over $2,000 in donations).

Arcade Belts was stoked to once again work with the High Fives Foundation. The 2013 SKINNY Ski-A-Thon was an awesome day with 76 friends in silly outfits, sporting skinny skis while raising money for the Foundation. With an outpouring of support and an increased awareness we were able to once again grow this fantastic event! See you all next year. Tristan Queen Arcade Belts

On Monday the SKINNY Ski-A-Thon participants conveniently tracked their lap count on the SnoCru mobile app along with the standard punch card every time they skied through the start corral and refueled with delicious food and beverages donated by Fireside Pizza Co. Justins, Pop Chips and Cabot Cheese. The SnoCru mobile app is available at www.snocru.com, in the Apple App Store and at the Google Play store.

The High Fives Foundation partners with like minded companies to further increase fundraising while increasing awareness for athletes that suffer a life altering injury in the winter sports community. It is with great appreciation that the SKINNY Ski-A-Thon was presented by Arcade Belts and is supported by Wells Fargo, K2 Skis, GoPro, SnoCru, Squaw Valley, Justins, Cabot Cheese, Pop Chips, Smith Optics, Vermont Peanut Butter Co., Le Chamois and Fireside Pizza Co.
