Dear High Fives Supporters,
As 2013 draws to a close, I’d like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank you, our generous supporters, for your continued commitment in helping the High Fives Foundation grow and expand its services!
In the past twelve months, the High Fives Foundation has eclipsed many goals that were set at the beginning of the year with the intention of fostering a greater sense of community and family through all facets of the Foundation. From the goal of reaching its millionth dollar raised to that of increasing the CR Johnson Healing Center’s offerings for both High Fives Athletes and the local community, this sense of family has increased beyond expectations. The High Fives Foundation was gifted a parcel of land in Vermont this year, with the future goal of creating an East Coast Healing Center. With this gift, the Foundation will be that much closer to opening more Healing Centers across the country; further embodying CR Johnson’s concept of a space that injured athletes can recover with the best healers available in a “no questions asked” setting.
To date, 54 athletes have been assisted by the Foundation through board approved grants in the Winter Empowerment Fund. This family of High Fives Athletes are all on their way to great new chapters in their lives thanks to the goals that they set in their individual recoveries from life-altering injury. Their stories have been told and celebrated through videos which can be viewed and shared via the High Fives Foundation’s channel on Vimeo.com.
The B.A.S.I.C.S. Program’s #HelmetsAreCool video has reached nearly 40,000 views (both live, in-person and via the online video) with the goal of reaching 55,000 in the months to come. This safety and awareness program has lead the High Fives Foundation to activate the vision of becoming the safety net for the winter action sports community. As a step towards realizing this vision, 10 helmets were donated to Big Brother Big Sisters of Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe!
All of these goals (and more) could not have been accomplished without your continued support. While we countdown the final moments of 2013, I ask you to consider making an open donation to the High Fives Foundation, please click here to do so before year’s end.
Thank you very much for a great year!
Happy New Year,
Roy Tuscany (Co-Founder | Executive Director)
