During a ski race at Boreal on March 11, 2007, 14 year old Lyndsay Slocumb ventured into the park with some fellow racers. Lyndsay was not one to usually enter the park, and was not prepared. Over the first jump she went too fast, overshot the landing and fell from the height of about 3 stories onto her neck and back. The heart stopping (literally) crash resulted in a traumatic brain injury that left Lyndsay in a coma for 4 weeks, with internal damages to her kidney, pancreas, spleen, lungs and multiple vertebrae. When Lyndsay awoke from the coma she found herself paralyzed from the neck down from cervical spinal cord damage.

Following her 2007 injury, Lyndsay has had a tremendous recovery. She is currently attending school at UNR, participating in adaptive rugby in Reno, teaching yoga and most recently took part in High Fives US Paralympic Race Camp. High Five on your accomplishments over the past 9 years Lyndsay!
