Nevada veterans get sendoff in Reno from ‘Military to the Mountains’

RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — The public helped send home 10 disabled U.S. military veterans in style Friday at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

The veterans were in town for a program called “Military to the Mountains,” a week-long ski program teaching adaptive skiing techniques at Squaw Valley-Alpine Meadows Ski Resort.

Each of the veterans was critically injured during their service in Iraq or Afghanistan.

They were recognized for their service and their success on the slopes as they continue to recover from their injuries.

The skiing project is a collaboration between the High Fives Foundation in Truckee, California, and the Adaptive Training Foundation.
