NEVER GIVE UP: Little Rock Christian Academy student Georgiana Burnside, 17 and a figure skater, continues recovering from a severe spinal cord injury suffered in a skiing accident in Aspen, Colo., about a year ago. Immediately after the accident, Georgiana underwent surgery at Craig Hospital in Denver and later returned to Little Rock. In the year since the accident, she has made great strides and is walking again. She will move to Denver to focus on recovering.

“My recovery goal is to one day get back on the snow and be able to ski independently again,” she says in a release from High Fives Foundation, which recently awarded her a $2,660 grant to aid in her continued recovery. “I hope to make as much progress as possible, but I also think it’s important to find joy in the journey.”
