Wounded veterans arrive at Reno-Tahoe Airport for week at slopes

More than 20 wounded U.S. veterans were welcomed to Reno on Monday as they arrive to enjoy a week at the slopes.

It’s the third year of the Military to the Mountains event, which is hosted at Squaw Valley-Alpine Meadows.

The event is organized by the non-profit High Fives Foundation, which is based in Truckee, California. The group helps disabled athletes by providing resources so they may continue their lives.

Two years ago, there was enough money for one veteran to take part. In year two, 10 veterans could join. This year, 22 disabled veterans will hit the mountain.

A big welcome celebration greeted everyone at Reno-Tahoe International Airport Monday night.
