On January 16th in 2013, Jack Trottier was injured while snowboarding when he fell and landed on his neck and shoulder. Jack suffered a broken C-6 vertebrae in his neck which caused a severe bruise on his spinal cord, paralyzing him from the chest down.

Jack attends a facilitiy called Journey Forward  two days a week. Journey Forward (JF) is an exercise based rehabilitation facility that Jack and his family feel provides him with the best opportunity to regain his strength and mobility. Unfortunately, JF is not considered a medical facility and is, therefore, not covered by insurance.

Jack attends JF two days per week for two hours each day at a cost of $400 per week or $20,800 per year. Thankfully, profits from The Jack Trottier Open last year paid for an entire year of this innovative rehabilitation.
