PRESS RELEASE | 6TH ANNUAL TAHOE CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

High Fives raises more than $17,500 at 6th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

One hundred and thirty-six golfers participated in 18 holes of scramble golf at the Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing, raising funds for traumatically injured mountain action sports athletes.

The High Fives Foundation hosted its sixth Annual Charity Golf Tournament in Truckee, Calif. on Thurs., May 12. Approximately $17,500 was raised to support the recovery and rehabilitation efforts of traumatically injured mountain action sports athletes.

To date, the High Fives Foundation has provided grant funding to 105 injured athletes in 23 states.

“The 2016 High Fives Foundation Golf Tournament at Gray’s Crossing was a huge success this year! After a couple years of rough weather, this year was perfect. The golf course was in spectacular condition and we’re already looking forward to next year’s event. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped put it together.  We couldn’t have done it without you.”

Tournament participants enjoyed a variety of competitions in addition to 18 holes of scramble golf tournament play. Activities included a “Break the Glass” competition presented by Northwest Mutual, where participants attempted to shatter a pane of glass from 25-yards away, men’s and women’s longest drive and closest to pin competitions. A Toyota 4runner and Toyota Tundra were up for grabs in the hole in one competition. Participants challenged head golf professional Tyler Knight in “Play the Pro,” and swung for the fences in the “Smith Optics Baseball Bat Long Drive” contest (which replaces the driver with a baseball bat for the participants to hit their drive).

“It is such an honor to be able to host members of the local Tahoe community, Action Sports Industry members, and supporters of the organization in our annual Golf Tournament” says Roy Tuscany, Executive Director of High Fives Foundation “We are so lucky to be able to play such an outstanding golf course in the area and work with the incredible staff of Gray’s Crossing”

A huge thank you goes out to the sponsors who helped make the Charity Golf Tournament an exciting and successful fundraising event.
