Location: Four Mile Road, Colorado
Miles Driven: 31

The High Fives Foundation’s Return to Dirt program continues to bring athletes together through adaptive off-road adventures that celebrate community, exploration, and resilience. On June 28, the program hosted its largest day trip of the season as Kevin Boyer, Caleb Wilson, Chad Waligura, and Chelsi Gearty explored Four Mile Road together.

The group represented four different journeys that all came together on the trail. Caleb traveled from California with his dad as part of a multi-state road trip through the American West, having already visited both the Grand Canyon and Death Valley before arriving in Colorado for his Return to Dirt experience.

Kevin, who now lives in Utah, spent several years living in Carbondale before his injury. Returning to Colorado’s North Fork Valley marked a meaningful milestone, allowing him to revisit an area that had once been an important part of his life.

Chad and Chelsi made the trip from Texas while scouting the region for a future adaptive hunting adventure, adding another layer of excitement and possibility to their Colorado visit.

As the group navigated 31 miles of scenic backcountry roads, they shared stories, supported one another, and experienced the unique camaraderie that develops when athletes explore the outdoors together. The day served as another reminder that Return to Dirt is about far more than the miles driven—it’s about reconnecting with adventure and creating memories that last long after the ride ends.

Adventure. Community. New Beginnings. That’s what Return to Dirt is all about.
