The funds raised from this promotion will go to support winter action sports athletes through the recovery process. It directly helps them to achieve their goals and assists disabled athletes through winter adaptive sports.
Executive Director and Founder Roy Tuscany says, “SNOCRU has provided us with incredible funding for Winter Empowerment Fund which assists atheltes in need, in the month of March, we gave out our largest grant in the history of the Foundation to the 57th athlete Dominic Prado in the amount of $19,999 for a FES Bike. Dominic was injured in a snowboarding accident that left him an incomplete quadriplegic, this bike will allow him to reach his goals in his recovery. The money raised from #MarchMatchness will be used to help cover the cost of this Winter Empowerment Grant”
SNOCRU and the High Fives Foundation have enjoyed a strong partnership and growing friendship through the 2013-2014 season and look forward to more programming, fundraising and awareness campaigns in the future.
SNOCRU is a free mobile application available via the Google Play Store or iTunes Store. The unique micro-social application offers a great way to stay connected and make new friends and add them to your “Cru” while playing in the mountains. In addition to staying in the know on snow conditions at all major ski areas, SNOCRU users can keep track of their stats on the snow (or dirt, when biking or hiking). SNOCRU users are able to track their maximum speed, distance, vertical, altitude and number of runs and then share it via social media channels and can even compete for the top spot on the SNOCRU Leaderboards with friends or specific resorts.
