A new collaborative short film by TEAM LEWIS Foundation & High Fives Foundation
The TEAM LEWIS Foundation and High Fives Foundation have once again teamed up—united by a shared mission to tell stories that inspire. The Healing Powers of Water is their latest collaboration…a short film exploring water as a powerful force for healing, transformation, and connection.
There’s something about water. Still in some moments, rippling in others. It invites calm—but also demands resilience. For High Fives Athlete Dariel Meléndez, water isn’t just a backdrop. It’s a source of strength.
Dariel, a 23-year-old from Costa Rica, lost his leg in a traumatic train accident. But from that tragedy emerged a fierce determination—one that has guided him to become a rising adaptive surfer, skier, and empowered member of the High Fives community.
Set on the cool turquoise waters of Lake Tahoe, The Healing Powers of Water captures what it means to float, glide, and breathe. To experience weightlessness—for the body, and for the mind.
“The water is constantly changing and out of your control,” the film narrates. “But you always come back.”
This film reminds us healing isn’t linear. It’s adaptive. It flows like water—carving new paths, challenging us to return stronger, more grounded, and deeply present.
