THE 2019 Vermont SKI CAMP HIGHLIGHTED 11 ADAPTIVE ATHLETES WHO ALL SUFFERED LIFE-ALTERING SPINAL CORD INJURIES, EACH OF THEM WERE EXCITED TO GET BACK OUT ONTO THE MOUNTAIN FOLLOWING THEIR RESPECTIVE INJURIES. ADAPTIVE SKIING USES SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT TO ALLOW PEOPLE WITH A WIDE RANGE OF DISABILITIES TO TAKE TO THE SNOW AS DYNAMICALLY AS SKIING WITHOUT DISABILITIES.

ALONG WITH INSTRUCTION PROVIDED BY Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, Roy Tuscany & Trevor Kennison WERE PAIRED WITH ADAPTIVE SKIERS/HIGH FIVES ATHLETES as mentors. All WERE EAGER TO PASS ALONG THEIR SKI KNOWLEDGE TO THE INDIVIDUALS NEW TO ADAPTIVE SKIING. THEY PROVIDED VALUABLE ADVICE to THE NEW HIGH FIVES ATHLETES. Many High Fives were given out throughout the day, especially during the adaptive human slalom! Check out the 100% shot GoPro Video below.

It took me back to a time where being on the snow was effortless. It gave me a renewed sense of freedom and independence. More than anything though, the cheers and support once I got down the mountain was by far what I cherished most.
