Adaptive Motocross Camp in Leadville, Colorado
The High Fives Foundation is on a mission to change the lives of adaptive athletes. Starting their philanthropic journey on the ski hill, they now embrace those who have suffered life-changing spinal cord injuries from motocross accidents.
Enter Motodemption: a thrilling two-day camp held annually at Leadville Motocross Park in Leadville, Colorado. Motodemption is its own nonprofit and this camp is a collaboration between High Fives and Motodemption. It is not just an event, it’s a life-changing experience. The camp, featuring athletes and professional guests, is a hub of inspiration and skill-sharing. Riders use specially-modified adaptive dirt bikes tailored to their needs, making each ride unique and safe. Each bike is custom-built to match the rider’s needs, featuring safety modifications and unique hand controls for the shifter and clutch, ensuring a safe and exhilarating ride.
“I’ve been at every Motodemption event held in Leadville, and I love to see the growth of the event and the riders. The mentor riders are so skilled, and that really gives the new riders something to strive towards.”
Tim Bur, Return to Dirt founder and High Fives athlete
The adaptive dirt bikes, meticulously crafted by Aaron Hill, a welding and metal fabricator, and Davey Gonzales, the mastermind behind contacts and funding, are nothing short of engineering marvels. Gonzales was inspired to create Motodemption after helping former motocross racer Aaron Hill return to riding post-injury. Hill, who was paralyzed after a motocross accident, wanted to inspire other adaptive athletes to chase their passion.
Motodemption is more than just a camp; it’s a testament to resilience, innovation, and the unyielding spirit of adaptive athletes. Join us in celebrating their journey and the incredible advancements in adaptive sports technology.
