The High Fives Foundation is excited to announce the revamp of “High Fives Hangouts,” a monthly community event series aimed at bringing together individuals impacted by life-changing injuries, particularly spinal cord injuries. These events will provide an opportunity for participants to meet, greet, eat, and enjoy each other’s company in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Presented by the High Fives Foundation and Hosted by High Fives Athlete Alex Uppenkamp, the events aim to bring together High Fives athletes and supporters in the cities they live in, fostering a sense of community and support.
In 2019, just before heading off to college at Humboldt State University, Alex decided to try a 30 ft mountain bike jump. He went for it, overshot the landing, and went over the handlebars sustaining a C3 complete SCI. Since 2019 the High Fives Foundation has supported Adapt therapy sessions, adaptive equipment, and hope for Uppenkamp.

As an organization, the High Fives Foundation takes pride in promoting inclusion. High Fives Hangouts are designed to unite High Fives athletes and supporters, including friends, family, caregivers, practitioners, and anyone else interested in joining the High Fives family and getting involved.
The inaugural High Fives Hangout in Carlsbad will take place on the last Saturday of each month throughout 2024, with the first event scheduled for January 27th. Full list of dates in 2024 include; January 27, February 24, March 30, April 27, May 25, June 29, July 27, August 31, September 28, October 26, November 30, December 28.
