The High Fives Foundation’s Access Unlimited program continues to expand opportunities for athletes to experience the outdoors, and this summer, participants gather for a memorable series of Reno Fly Fish Days.
Set against the beautiful waters of Northern Nevada, athletes were introduced to the art of fly fishing through hands-on instruction, adaptive equipment, and a welcoming community of guides, volunteers, and fellow outdoor enthusiasts. Whether participants were casting a fly rod for the first time or building on existing skills, the event created an inclusive environment where everyone could enjoy a day on the water.
Fly fishing offers more than just the opportunity to catch fish—it provides a chance to slow down, focus on the present moment, and connect with nature. Throughout the day, athletes practiced casting techniques, learned about local fisheries, and experienced the therapeutic benefits that come from spending time outdoors.
Through Access Unlimited, High Fives Foundation is committed to removing barriers and creating pathways for individuals living with life-changing injuries to participate in outdoor recreation. Programs like Reno Fly Fish Days help foster independence, confidence, and community while introducing athletes to lifelong outdoor pursuits.
A special thank you goes out to the volunteers, guides, and partners who helped make the event possible. Their support ensured that every participant had the opportunity to learn, explore, and enjoy a successful day on the water.
From first casts to lasting memories, Reno Fly Fish Days showcased the power of adaptive recreation and the importance of making outdoor experiences accessible to all.
Tight lines, new friendships, and another great day outdoors.
