“After you get hurt and try to rebuild yourself, you HAVE to have help. For me, my family and partners like High Fives are priceless. When I’m training for climbing trips, my “new” body gets beat up pretty bad and I need to have it worked on so I can keep training towards my goals. High Fives helped me with some medical care and training gym fees that allowed that to happen and get me ready for my spring climbing objectives in Spain and Greece.”
CRAIG WAS CLIMBING IN CO WHEN HE WAS ACCIDENTALLY DROPPED 100 FEET DOWN THE CLIMB HE HAD JUST LEAD. HE HIT THE GROUND AND EXPLODED HIS FEET AND ANKLES, BURST HIS L2, BROKE RIBS, PUNCTURED A LUNG, AND BROKE HIS NECK AT C5. CRAIG SPENT 3 MONTHS IN THE HOSPITAL WHERE THEY FUSED HIS LUMBAR FROM L1-4, HIS NECK AT C5/6 AND THEN SENT HIM HOME.
AFTER A YEAR, CRAIG COULDN’T CLIMB AND HE WANTED TO GO BACK TO THE MOUNTAINS. HE DECIDED TO AMPUTATE HIS RIGHT LEG, WHICH WASN’T HEALING WELL, SO HE COULD GET HIS QUALITY LIFE BACK. CRAIG WAS CLIMBING 4 MONTHS AFTER THE AMPUTATION.
