ATHLETE BELT GOAL | Erik Johnson

The Arcade Belt Program

#highfivesathlete Erik Johnson skis to Lost Trail Lodge to complete his first Arcade Belt goal

Goal #1: Ski tour to Lost Trail Lodge in Truckee, CA

During the first week of March, Erik has completed his first belt goal in style, as he skinned up to Lost Trail Lodge (LTL) in Truckee, CA. LTL is a tucked away backcountry get-away, resting on 2.5 acres in Coldstream Canyon. During the snowy winter, no roads access the property so a car is out of the question. The only way in is via snowmobile, snowshoes, or Erik’s choice: skis.  Not only did he make it up, but he made coming back down look like a ton of fun!

Lost Trail Lodge is pretty epic - the closest thing to a European hut we have in the U.S.

The experience he gained from this tour will help him with his future goals of accessing huts all around the Lake Tahoe area. Erik received funding through the High Fives Foundation to purchase a sport specific prosthetic for his right leg, allowing him to go out on adventures like this!

The Arcade Belt Program was put in place to provide our athletes with a system for setting goals. Similar to a karate belt system, athletes move through the ranks when they complete goals they set for themselves and receive a belt with stars corresponding to the goal number they accomplish.
