While on a family camping trip at the sand dunes in Walden, CO, on September 22, 2019, Ashley and her family were out riding their side-by-side’s, ATV’s and dirtbikes for the day. Stopping for a picnic and making sand angels with her son before returning to camp. After they finished, her son decided to ride with his grandparents. Ashley returned to her side-by-side with her friend and moments later rolled the machine. Her friend was ejected from the back, walking away with a bruised hip, but Ashley was pinned inside, suffering a spinal cord injury, multiple broken ribs, a collarbone fracture, a concussion, numerous stitches across her head and a collapsed lung.
