High Five #HighFivesAthlete Brad Baugh for achieving his first of five Arcade Belt Goals!
Following his injury, Brad has been searching for different ways to get back to the mountains in an adaptive fashion. A few years ago Brad found skiing and he hasn’t looked back. On the first of this year Brad accomplished his goal of getting his mono-ski dialed and joining his local adaptive program.
GOAL 1 – Dial in High Fives funded Nissin mono-ski, and get plugged into NSCD training program (COMPLETED on 2/3/2017)
In July 2005, the summer going into Brad’s junior year of high school, he was involved in an automobile accident on a windy Texas road. As a young adrenaline filled teenager Brad foolishly tested how fast he could take the corners in his top heavy SUV. The result was an accident in which Brad was ejected through the front windshield. The crash left him with a spinal cord injury at the T-12 level.
These goals are achieved as a part of the Arcade Goal Belt Program which was established as an initiative that guides athletes through the complex recovery process after a life-altering injury.
The belt program, which is similar to a karate belt system, rewards High Fives athletes with an Arcade belt containing a new gold star for each milestone achieved. This framework is designed to provide clarity, support, competition and inspiration for others as these athletes work to rebuild their lives.
