Mission:
BB|BS’ mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of at-risk children and youth in our community through a professionally-supported, one-to-one relationship with a caring and responsible individual. These mentors offer support to children’s growth and development through nurturing relationships, leading to greater self-esteem, improved academic performance, and stronger relationships with their family, peers, and other adults.

BB|BS Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe is a chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, a national non-profit agency that was founded in 1904, over a century ago! Currently, there are over 400 Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies throughout the U.S. BB|BS local chapter was founded in 1981 and has served Western Nevada County ever since. In July 2007, the BB|BS agency received funding from the S.H. Cowell Foundation to expand our mentoring programs to Eastern Nevada County and surrounding communities in need, specifically to the Truckee, Kings Beach, and Tahoe City Region.

The High Fives Non-Profit Foundation donated 10 POC ski helmets to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County and North Lake Tahoe for the children in their program to make sure they are safe skiing this winter as part of Foundation’s B.A.S.I.C.S. safety and awareness program.
