High Fives to Griffin MacFadyen for continuing to support the Foundation through his the Winter Action Sports Ambassador Pledge Program, known as Griff’s Pledge!

Here’s an update from High Fives Ambassador Griffin MacFadyen’s mother:

“Greetings everyone!

Griffin had a fantastic 3 days of competitions this weekend at Okemo. Other than Friday’s miserable weather (cold wet drizzle and fog) Saturday and Sunday were filled with lots of sunshine, temps in the 40’s, and catching up with friends! This weekend was all freestyle events, the toughest and most technical of all events that Griffin competes in, along with some of the best riders on the east coast. Griff finished the weekend with placing 1st in all three events…2 Slopestyles, and 1 Halfpipe and he is excited knowing he’s helping High Fives.

The highlight of the weekend, however, arrived around 10 on Sunday with a visit from a very special guest. With the help of his parents, Wendy and Fran Schwarz, and the great staff at Okemo, Mike Schwarz was able to come to the Halfpipe event to cheer Griff on. As you may already know, Mike is the inspiration that fueled Griff’s idea to raise funds for High Fives. Griff’s original connection to High Fives started last October when he was asked by High Fives to help them promote their Helmets Are Cool campaign through a video presentation at area schools. Mike is one of the featured athletes in the video, and made a personal appearance along with Griff to participate in the school presentation. After meeting Mike, Griff asked what he could do to help Mike in his on-going recovery. Mike sustained a traumatic brain injury while doing the thing he and Griffin share a passion for…..snowboarding. And by the way, Mike was wearing a helmet, which more than likely saved his life. Realizing the best way to help Mike was to through the High Fives Foundation, the idea of the fundraiser came about. Hoping to not only help Mike, but other athletes who need their support as well. Griffin was beyond excited to have Mike at Sunday’s compeition, and it was so great to see many of Mike’s friends stop by for a High Five!

Surrounded by awesome people always makes for a great weekend.
