High Fives Athlete Andrew Kurka – Aspen Freeskiing Adventures in a Sit-Ski

In 2005, at the age of 13 Andrew Kurka suffered a spinal cord injury that left his legs partially paralyzed from the knees down.  Andrew was an avid wrestler and competitor before his injury, with dreams of becoming a professional athlete.  At the suggestion of his physical therapist, Andrew got involved with monoskiing and instantly fell in love with the sport.  Now with the help of the High Fives Foundation, Andrew has been able to make his dream a reality.  He will be competing for the U.S. in alpine skiing at the 2014 Paralympics in Sochi, Russia.

The above video highlights some fun that Andrew and friends recently had at Aspen, CO while competing (and winning) at the Downhill National Adaptive Championships. Learn more about High Fives Athlete Andrew Kurka here.
