High Fives Hits the Rapids, Adaptive Rafting on the American River

On August 28–29, two High Fives Athletes — Brian Noonan and Alina Petrik — took to the water for our first-ever adaptive rafting camp on the South Fork of the American River. Hosted by ETC River Camp / Environmental Traveling Companions, this two-day adventure was all about pushing limits, soaking up sunshine, and riding some incredible rapids.

With expert guidance from ETC and our phenomenal river guide, Kendall, athletes experienced the thrill of whitewater rafting in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment. For both Brian and Alina, the trip was about more than just rapids — it was about laughter, teamwork, and a deep connection to the outdoors.

As Bryce Grebitus, Grants & Fundraising Manager for High Fives Foundation, shared:

“Our first-ever adaptive rafting camp brought nothing but sunshine, rapids, and positive vibes all around. Huge thanks to ETC and our awesome guide Kendall for keeping us safe and making it an unforgettable trip. Can’t wait to come back with more High Fives Athletes next year!”

High Five to Brian, Alina, ETC, Bryce, Matt and everyone who made this inaugural camp a success. Here’s to many more rapids, sunshine, and positive vibes ahead!
