VIDEO | A FRIENDSHIP FROM A HIGHFIVE

Meet #HighFivesAthletes Georgiana Burnside and Justin Pines!

They met because they were each wearing High Fives gear while in rehabilitation at Craig Hospital. Watch how their respective recovery paths have become one in ‘A Friendship From a Highfive’. Video by Generikal Design

Georgiana Burnside

While skiing a double black diamond at Snowmass last Spring, Georgiana hit a rogue patch of ice misdirecting her off a large drop on the side of the trail. After dropping 50 feet or so,Georgiana landed on her back and slid to a stop. That is where she discovered that she couldn’t move her legs. Georgiana was flown directly to Craig Hospital where she underwent surgery to repair her spine. Following surgery, she was told that she had suffered a T12/L1 spinal cord injury.

Justin Pines

Pines sustained a severe spinal cord injury resulting in paralysis, broken ribs, a fractured sternum, and a collapsed right lung in a ski accident in Tahoe. On the 10-week anniversary of his accident, he rode the 100K Pedal for Possible course on a handcycle. He has raised nearly $18,000 for Craig Hospital from his friends and family.
