High Five #HighFivesAthlete Nolan Trowe for achieving three of his five Arcade Belt Goals!
While many of Nolan’s goals revolve around his recovery and getting back into the mountains, one huge goal was to get back to work. In February of this year, Nolan was able to tie his tie and get back to teaching at Truckee High School.
- GOAL 1 – Walking full time with arm crutches, ascend and descending stairs with cane (COMPLETED on 10/4/2016)
- GOAL 2 – Walking with a cane most of the time (COMPLETED on 11/1/2016)
- GOAL 3 – Get back to work as a teacher (COMPLETED on 2/15/2017)
Truckee local Nolan Trowe suffered an incomplete spinal cord injury while cliff diving with friends at Emerald Pools. Nolan has started walking with assistance with the help of Jack Powell at the CR Johnson Healing Center. He continues to work hard, inspire and defy the odds.
These goals are achieved as a part of the Arcade Goal Belt Program which was established as an initiative that guides athletes through the complex recovery process after a life-altering injury.
The belt program, which is similar to a karate belt system, rewards High Fives athletes with an Arcade belt containing a new gold star for each milestone achieved. This framework is designed to provide clarity, support, competition and inspiration for others as these athletes work to rebuild their lives.
