Jeff Andrews receives continued grant funding for dedicated rehabilitation
Massage therapy is vital to his recovery of strength and motor function
(Truckee, Calif., September 15, 2016) — The High Fives Foundation is awarding Truckee resident, Jeff Andrews an Empowerment Grant for massage therapy with Karen Stubbs located in the CR Johnson Healing Center.
In March, 2014 Andrews suffered a spinal cord injury that resulted in limited use of his hands an legs in a snowboarding accident that occurred at Sugar Bowl.
Since his injury, he has worked tirelessly towards regaining motor function, strength and sensation. He and Head Trainer Jack Powell work together every single day at the CR Johnson Healing Center, a facility that allows Andrews to work out free of charge.
“I’m so impressed with Jeff’s determination, he’s here everyday,” said Roy Tuscany, Executive Director of the High Fives Foundation. “Last month I watched him win a surf competition in Waikiki Hawaii purely based off of his increased strength and function.” Read that story HERE.
Andrews also plays on a rugby team in Reno for people with quadriplegia.
“I definitely spend more time than most people in the gym,” Andrews said. “If I didn’t have Karen Stubbs to work on my tired muscles following workouts, I’d be stiff as a board.”
Stubbs is a massage therapist whose office is located in the CR Johnson Healing Center in Truckee, California.
