High Fives Athlete Jeff Hemenger sent in a great update from his recent time on the slopes at Aspen, CO with the ski bike that the Foundation awarded him through the Winter Empowerment Fund.

“Just wanted to give a short update. I was in recently in Aspen, CO for some ski biking and the X-games. The apaptive program at Challenge Aspen had some ski bikes in their office but they haven’t used them for the past several years. For some reason they came to the thinking it wasn’t a good piece of adaptive equipment. They said I could bring my own ski-bike seeing as I have my own and they would help with pairing me up with someone to go down the mountain with. The instructor they paired me with right away said he was learning more from me than he could teach, so, ski-biking together worked out as a mutual benefit. When I was done they told that Challenge Aspen going to be writing a progression program for ski biking after seeing how well it worked for me and realizing many others could be able to benefit. I let them all know that I am more than happy to came back to help them write their progression and test it out.
