Meet #HighFivesAthlete Kirk Williams (Athlete #198) from Boulder, CO
In June 2018, the High Fives Foundation disbursed $74,539.86 to 24 Athlete’s across North America.
Kirk works extensively with ReActive Adaptations in Crested Butte and in June, the High Fives Foundation funded a $1,200 adaptive bike rack so that he can continue to travel and inspire others. Kirk is an excellent representative of the organization.
This grant will help me become even more independent with my handcycle. Right now I have to either ride from home or have someone come with me in order to load and unload my bike off the car, this rack will help immensely!
Kirk Williams suffered a C4-6 spinal cord injury in a mountain bike crash in 2009. He now works in the industry and helps others on a daily basis.
Kirk remains active following his 2009 SCI, and encourages others in the adaptive community to do the same. He wants to continue traveling and inspiring.
The High Fives Foundation supports injured outdoor action sports Athletes through grant funding to be used towards reaching their recovery goals. Since the Foundation’s January 2009 inception, the Empowerment Program Service has assisted 212 Athletes from 31 states in nine respective funding categories: Living expenses, insurance, travel, health, healing network, adaptive equipment, winter equipment, programs and “stoke” (positive energy, outlook and attitude).
